Assessment and Development Centre

The College is fully committed to ensuring that it offers a comprehensive training and development package to all its trainees. The aim is to provide you with the skills and confidence to enable you to successfully undertake your vocational training, and for you to positively move into suitable and sustainable employment.

.All trainees accepted into the College have a full induction, assessment and development period (of up to 3 weeks), in order to ascertain individual training and development needs.

The Assessment and Development Centre offers:

  • A full and comprehensive Induction
  • Assessments to identify any Literacy, Numeracy or ICT support needs.
  • Practical Assessments and support specific to the Vocational Training
  • A holistic Individual Employment Preparation Plan.
  • Tailored group training in personal development i.e. Assertiveness, Confidence-Building, Work Ethics, stress management and Constructive Use of Leisure, some of which will be undertaken during the assessment and development period and also offered in sessions during your time at the college.

Once assessed, you will be provided with the individual training agreed, together with opportunities to develop and the support empowering you to achieve positive steps to success.

Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Training College, in conjunction with Surrey Supported Employment, are offering training sessions on “How to Prepare for an OFSTED Inspection” for voluntary and community Surrey based groups who deliver training to people with learning difficulties under the Netgain Partnership.

If your organisation would like to become a partner in this programme it will provide a real opportunity to upgrade your delivery and prepare you if at some time in the future you are required to undergo an OFSTED inspection, which is likely to be the case. It will also put you in a stronger position to become involved in future ESF funding opportunities, and open up other network opportunities. IMPORTANTLY THE CONTRACT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE OPPORTUNITY OF EARNING APPROXIMATELY £7,800 !!!

Survey supported emplymentSurrey Supported Employment

Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Training College is very pleased to offer a Job Broker Service under the New Deal for Disabled People programme. We can offer support for individuals with disabilities in receipt of Incapacity Benefit and living in Surrey, who are seeking to enter employment and are unsure of where to start.

The type of service available includes:

  • Help to build up confidence, establish new goals and gain an awareness of opportunities available
  • Individual career guidance
  • Help in selecting an appropriate training course, if a need is identified
  • Help in finding work, including voluntary or therapeutic in the first instance if necessary
  • Assistance in improving job getting skills, including help with writing a CV and interview techniques
  • General support towards full or part-time paid employment

As a member of Surrey Supported Employment Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Training College can also offer another programme known as Support Into Employment Project. This project is funded through the European Social Fund and Surrey Job Centre Plus and is ideal for those who wonder whether they can make the transition back into employment, and the initial steps could include some of the following:

Build an individual vocational profile of skills and experience

  • Assist in building confidence and establishing employment goals and aspirations
  • Consider any options available towards the journey back into employment, such as training, voluntary work, travel training etc.
  • Develop job getting skills
  • Identify suitable job vacancies
  • Assist with job applications and the preparation of a CV
  • Provide interview training and support
  • Set up and support work tasters
  • Assist in settling into a new job and provide further support in the work place

Further information about Surrey Supported Employment:

The Partnership is made up of a group of organisations based in Surrey who have extensive experience in working with people with disabilities, including those with mental health issues, learning difficulties, visual impairment, and other types of disability such as heart conditions, diabetes, respiratory and mobility problems.

Regular meetings are held to share information and seminars, with guest speakers, are held three times a year when other service providers also attend.
