Funding

Funded by Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department of Work and Pensions. The contract is managed by the Residential Training Unit.
Trainees who are on state benefits, e.g. Incapacity Benefit, Income Support or Job Seeker’s Allowance, will continue to receive the same rate of benefit whilst on training (with the exception of any “Care” component, which will be lost).
Trainees being referred from any other source, including direct referrals will be accepted subject to assessment and agreement on funding.
Funding covers the costs of your actual training, equipment and/ or protective clothing needed for your training, accommodation and full board.

(For applicants referred through Jobcentre Plus)

You must be over 18 years of age.
You must have an on-going health problem or disability.
You must be unemployed before your training starts.
Your goal should be employment, either open or supported, or self-employment, on completion of training.
You must have a good prospect of employment in the chosen training occupation in your home area.

Make an appointment to see your Disability Employment Adviser (DEA) at your local Jobcentre or Jobcentre Plus office.
Your eligibility will be checked and you will be asked to give your consent for a medical report to be requested.
You will then be required to complete an application form and this will be sent by the DEA to the Residential Training Unit.
If your application meets the funding criteria, it will be passed on to the College for our consideration.
If your application is accepted, you will be notified of the expected start date of your training and what to do next.
