Discovery
The Discovery Group aims to provide an introduction to social and mental stimulation for members who have yet to access other activities. New members are able to practise skills with others to ascertain their own abilities. The Group also helps those members who can no longer do their current activity and helps to boost their confidence for the future. Individual development with literacy and numeracy helps to promote social interaction and there are opportunities to re-learn social skills following disablement.
The group provides external information and speakers on a wide range of social, environmental and cultural issues. All Centre members are encouraged to come to these meetings which allow new members to interact with people who have been coming to the Centre for some while. Throughout the year organised visits and outings enable members to see things they may not have had the opportunity to do before.
