Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation welcomes David Hypher to its Board of Trustees

Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of David Hypher to its Board of Trustees.

Born in India, David came to the UK in 1958 aged eight. His family settled in Surrey and he completed his full time education at Brooklands College, Weybridge.

David chose a career in finance and was a stockbroker for 24 years and served as an investment director for a further 16 years before taking early retirement in 1998. In 2005 he served as High Sheriff of Surrey and is currently a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey. David became a Governor of the Foundation in 2007.

Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation is a registered charity based in Surrey providing solutions to the needs of people with complex disabilities. It operates five centres specialising in vocational training, brain injury rehabilitation, development of life skills, mobility assessments, educational and recreational activities.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “I first became aware of Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation in the late 1950s through playing cricket against the college in Leatherhead - they always beat us but we kept coming back because the teas were so good!  Later in the City I regularly attended a QEF lunchtime fundraising reception held at the Mansion House. More recently, as High Sheriff of Surrey, I toured the various facilities and came to realise the full scope of their great work and achievements, which prompted me to assist, first as Governor and now as a Trustee.  The experiences I bring to this position are in the fields of finance and marketing together with a strong desire to help people achieve their full potential by overcoming any challenges they may face.”

Married with two daughters, David now lives in Guildford and lists antiques, classic cars and sport amongst his hobbies. With a life long passion for learning, David obtained a BSc Hons in Social Science with Politics and Economics from the Open University in 2007.
