Business Development Manager
Job Description

Location: Foundation Head Office, Leatherhead Court, Woodlands Road, Leatherhead, Surrey

Reports to : Chief Executive and member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).

Main function of job

To identify and propose specific options to support the strategic and cost-effective growth of Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation and to guide the relevant operational managers towards their delivery of consequent initiatives. Strategic growth may be achieved through the addition of new services, the extension of existing ones or the formation of appropriate alliances.

Tasks

To review critically and constructively the requirement, value and efficiencies of specified current operations and, working with Centre Heads, to produce business plans (for the SMT and Board of Trustees) on the development of these to their full potential, whether through existing sites or elsewhere.

To research, scope and propose specific business developments (including innovations, alliances and collaborations) to extend the Foundation’s operations and to provide guidance and advice to those operational managers responsible for establishing resultant new services and initiatives.

To monitor trends across the care sector (including business performance data from relevant organisations and forthcoming changes to government policy or funding streams) and to apprise the SMT of consequent opportunities or threats. 

To take responsibility for the production of strategic plans for the Foundation, liaising with the Chief Executive, SMT and Trustees as appropriate.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post-holder will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the employee’s changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the Foundation.

Travel

Mainly SE England, but occasional trips throughout GB and to other countries.

Skills

Well developed skills in: research, data analysis and presentation, written and verbal communications, IT use, liaising with senior managers (both in-house and external), preparing and delivering effective presentations to budget-holders and decision-makers.

Qualifications and experience required

Graduate level

At least 5 years experience at senior level within a dynamic environment, preferably with significant responsibility for growing a business

Track record of developing strategic ideas and driving initiatives to successful implementation

Can demonstrate innovative, entrepreneurial or sales achievements, balanced by a responsible approach  

Experience as a budget holder of more than £1m preferred

Experience of marketing preferred

Knowledge and experience of government funding and contracts preferred
